Post 26: two colleagues' posts about what they have learned. Use quotes.

I chose Thomas Smith's blog he said" I learned how to analyze and break down readings better." This is also something that I learned it is preparing me for my next English class.

Post 25: the most important thing you've learned in this class from the literature we read.

In the story A Rose for Emily the most important thing I learned was that you have to live your life the way that you want to not how somebody else wants you to. Things are going to happen in life but at the end of the day they are your choices and decisions. Just because one bad thing happens that does not mean you have to stop living. The best thing to do is to talk to someone about your issues. For example, Emily stops dating because her father told her that she could no longer date.

Post 24: comparing and contrasting your post to two colleagues' posts about women in modern family life. Use quotes.

I chose Siobhan Neal's post she said "The role of woman in modern lifestyle now is outrageous. The woman I hang around they are manageable and able to teach you things that you may not know about.''

I also chose Akeryah post she said 'The role of women in modern family life is more on being independent. They don't wait until someone or their husband tells them what to do or how to things, they go out and do it on their own."
Both of these colleagues said that the woman does not wait for the husband and that they pretty much know how to do things because of what they have been through growing up.

Post 23: the role of women in modern family life.

The role of women in modern family life is to help provide for the children along with the father. The woman cooks and cleans the house. She also works and does everyone's laundry. The woman has her own responsibilities as well outside of the family.

Post 21: setting of your favorite TV show and what the setting means for the show.

My favorite TV show is Love and Hip-hop Atlanta the setting as you can see from the title is in the city of Atlanta. What does the setting mean for the show? Well it pretty much just means it is about artists and singers living their lives in this big city. The setting provides them with a lot of opportunity to grow their music.

Post 20: develops a metaphor about what you think about poetry◾1 post by Saturday about that develops a metaphor about what you think about poetry.

Using metaphors in poetry allows it to bring the imagery to life. It gives you a better understanding of what the poem is about. Metaphors make the poetry more interesting and engaging for the reader. Sometimes when people write poetry they use metaphors to express what they are trying to say better.

Post 19: metaphor in a song lyric.

I chose the song Hound Dog by Elvis Presley. The metaphor of this song is referring to a person being a cheater. We all know a person cannot really be a hound dog.
You ain’t nothin’ but a hound dog
Quit snoopin’ ’round my door
You can wag your tail
But I ain’t gonna feed you no more

Post 18 : images 2 colleagues' discussed in their posts and how you differ. Use quotes.

I chose Alexus Boles post she said "Images can mean different things because what you thought something meant might not mean the same thing to someone else. The language that we use can play a huge part in the way that people understand what we are trying to say. A new reader of a poem might think the story means something totally different from what a older reader thinks. I pretty much wrote the same thing when I did my post.

I also chose Siobhan Neals post "I know when I look at an image I can see the words throughout the image and sometimes predict what happens.Like Maya Angelou poem "Phenomenal Woman" I can see a woman that is strong and is well smart about what she do. In this poem I see the image of a woman who is confident and does not care what anyone thinks.

Post 17: why images can mean so many different things. Use a quote from a poem and from a song you like.

Images can mean different things because what you thought something meant might not mean the same thing to someone else. The language that we use can play a huge part in the way that people understand what we are trying to say. A new reader of a poem might think the story means something totally different from what a older reader thinks. In the poem a lesson from history by Joseph Morris one reader might agree that the first line is true but another reader might disagree that once you have done something their life becomes easier.
Everything's easy after it's done;
Every battle's a "cinch" that's won;
Every problem is clear that's solved--

In the song Waterfalls by TLC a reader might think this song is actually about chasing waterfalls just from the title while it is really about a guy who has HIV and AIDS.
“One day he goes and takes a glimpse in the mirror
But he doesn’t recognise his own face
His health is fading and he doesn’t know why
Three letters took him to his final resting place.”

Post 16: responding to two colleagues' posts. Use quotes.

I chose to use Siobhan Neal's post about the theme of her life so far. She said the theme of her life so far is "motivation to drive herself for college. Having a positive outlook in your life can lead you to have a great time." I agree with what Siobhan said motivation allows you to do better the more motivated you are the better you do no matter what it is.

I also used Tiffany Willis's post about the theme of her life. She said the theme of her life is "Letting go of an old flame so a new one can come in and love me." Holding on to the past does nothing but tear you down even more." What she said is true if you keep holding on to the past you will get no where in life.

Post 15: the use of mythological elements in one of this week's poems. Use quotes

The poem I chose was The death of the Ball Turrett Gunner by Randall Jarrell. This poem has many mythological elements such as the mother and her child being in a ball Turret which places them in extreme danger. The first line in the poem states that he emerged from his mothers sleep (pg. 805). As a child he was comforted , warm and had security. (Pg. 805)

Post 14: 2 of your colleagues' favorite poems or lyrics.

I chose Siobhan Neal's post about her favorite song  lyric she said, "My favorite song lyric is Adele Song "Hello".  The songwriter emphasis that she has a phone in the middle of nowhere and she needs to get reception and and the towers that are there and she wants to talk to her loved one. They been going through hell and back. She is out of town and she wants him to return her call. I also like this song lyric from Adele because you can actually feel the same pain that she does.

I also chose to use Breanna Williams post about her favorite movie. She said, "My favorite movie is  The Notebook its about two young lovers who want to be together so bad but they are just way to different they come from different back grounds the girl grows up rich and wealthy but her lover was poor. Her parents did not  approve of their relationship so they move away . I have never seen this movie before but it sounds interesting.

Post 13: theme of your favorite poem or song lyric,

The poem I chose was Touched by an Angel by Maya Angelou. The theme of this poem is that love is a very sacred thing and it is also religious. To be loved you must go through many struggles in life. Love should always be worshiped even though it is hard.

Post 12: the theme of my life so far

Post 11: theme of your favorite movie

My favorite movie is the Fault in Our Stars. This movie has many themes so I will just choose one. The theme I chose was mortality. Hazel and Augustus experience death sooner than they think due to Hazel having cancer. Even though she has cancer they both knew she would be dying so they enjoyed the fun times together.

Post 10: two colleagues' symbols.

I chose Siobhan's post she said "Something that I wear often is my rings and my Jesus bracelet. The rings symbolizes that my mom gave me a heart ring and it means the most to me. I wear it on my right had middle finger. The second ring that I wear is on my left hand on my marriage finger.  It symbolizes the graduation ring that was giving to me from my God Dad. Also, the Jesus bracelet that I wear on wrist comes from my mother also. It's colorful and enjoy wearing it." I think that the items she wears really symbolize her.

I also chose Monicia's post she said "The object I wear that symbolizes something for me is the necklace my husband got me on Christmas this year he also got me this bracelet but I don't wear it as much as I do the necklace.I wear it every single day every where I go it means a lot to me because it came from him and he knows I love jewelry & I  love him  !!!!" I think it's sweet that the thing she chose that symbolized her was a gift from her boyfriend.

Post 9: something you often wear or carry and what it symbolizes.

Something I always wear is a smile. It symbolizes that I am always happy and that I am a very friendly person. It also shows that I am outgoing and intelligent. I am a person that people can get to know just by my smile.

Post 8 : response to 2 colleague's view of setting. Use quotes and links.

Siobhan said the setting of Ernest Hemingway's story "Soldier's Home" is in Oklahoma. It took place in the year 1919. In the home of Harold Krebs who returns to France.  http://sadie103.blogspot.com/

Post 7 : setting in either Hemingway's or Packer's story.

The setting of Hemingway's story " Soldiers Home" is in Oklahoma at Kreb's home. This takes place in the year 1920 during the summer. This is after World War 1 has ended when the people in the war return home from fighting. " Kreb's returned tot his home town in Oklahoma the greeting of hereos was over" pg. 187 paragraph 2

Post 6 : respond to two colleagues' posts. Use quotes.

I'm going to respond to Siobhan Neals post about her favorite movie Beyond the Lights. She says that the actor she looks at the outer world differently from how she was on the inside. I have seen the movie and I think the actor had a lot of potential but she needed the right person to guide her along the way.

I am also going to respond to Israel post about the theme of the Fall of the House of Usher to her it was scary and it left her with a confused feeling. I read this story and can relate to the way that she felt when she read the story.

Post 5 : how the author's life of your Doc1 story/poem affects the story or poem. Use quotes & links.

William Faulkner's life did not affect the story A Rose for Emily. His life was different from the way Emily's life was. He had a parent in his life to raise him until he was ready to leave. He had a chance to be social growing up. That is something Emily did not have. http://www.biography.com/people/william-faulkner-9292252#younger-years

Post 4 : 1 about what 2 of your colleagues learned about their stories; use quotes & links.

I chose Siobhan's story A Sorrowful Woman by Gail Godwin from her story she learned that you should express the way that you feel and that you will go through bad times in order to get to the good things in life.  http://sadie103.blogspot.com/2016/01/about-what-you-have-learned-about-your.html

I also chose Alexus Boles story Three Girls by Joyce Oates. She learned that you should not always expect things in return.

Post 3 what I learned from my story

The story I had was A Rose for Emily by William Faulkner. From this story I learned that just because you go through things that does not mean you have to let that affect you. Emily experienced a bad breakup she thought the guy she was dating would marry her but he didn't. He left without even telling her this caused her father to be more cautious of her he stated that she could not date or get married. Afterwards, her father had a sudden death this caused her to shut out everyone. She begins talking to another guy and it also doesn't turn out the way that she expected so she kills him.

post 2: story or poem for your wiki article.

The story I chose for my Wiki article is A rose for Emily. This story talks about a woman named Emily Grierson. She lives in a house that is pretty much run down it no longer looks the way that it did years ago. While alive her taxes got remitted due to her father not paying money to the town, she refuses to pay the taxes because she knows that she does not owe anything. Colonel Sartoris otherwise known as the mayor tries to force her to pay but she kicks them out of her house. This story has five sections but this is just a summary of the first section.....
